Susie-Melissa is in great demand as an instructor, and presently teaches classes in calligraphy through Southern Methodist University. She conducts regular seminars and classes at her studio and other locations throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. BEGINNING CALLIGRAPHYSix week course. Meets every Monday evening from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. You may register online at www.smu.edu. Supplies are purchased the first night of class. You will be introduced to five different lettering styles: Gothic · Uncial · Roundhand · Italic · Old English INTERMEDIATE CALLIGRAPHYFollows the Beginner Class and is six weeks in length. The class covers different projects such as a spiral, note pad layout, quotes and sayings, invitations, envelopes, place cards, menus, and a class certificate. Classes are from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on Monday evenings. Paper products are purchased the first night of class. You may register online at www.smu.edu SCRIPTA two hour course. The price includes supplies and numerous handouts from priceless and rare out of print books. Students learn lower case Script alphabet and the skills for immediate application. ILLUMINATION SEMINARYou will learn the art of embellishing your own ornamental letters with designs. You will learn to use gold, silver, bronze, and colors. The term "Illuminated" is of medieval origin, meaning that which is lighted with colored decoration. Illuminating allows great freedom in design. This full day seminar will introduce the student to the basic design concept and techniques of ornamental letters. Through the undertaking of a specific project, each person will experience working with 23k gold, silver, and bronze leaf. This rare and beautiful art form is in great demand by private and corporate clients. This is one of our most popular classes. Seating is LIMITED! PORTFOLIO IDesigned for those interested in calligraphy as a profession. Through step-by-step instruction, each student will design and complete their individual portfolio...ready for presentation.
