Internationally recognized Founder and President of Calligraphic Arts, Inc. Susie-Melissa Cherry, is known as a Master Calligrapher and Mentor in her profession. Her love for calligraphy is revealed in the intricate and delightful detail found in all of her handiwork. Her enthusiasm for the art she practices permeates the literally thousands of invitations and certificates. she has created. Celebrating 51 years as a calligrapher, Susie-Melissa discovered her amazing talent as a scribe at the very tender age of thirteen. Her unique talent and expertise have been well published. The client list reads like a Who's Who of Dallas, the United States of America, and the international community. Susie-Melissa's work has been commissioned by The White House, Buckingham Palace, the Vatican, the Adolfus Hotel, Southern Methodist University, the Bush Foundation, and numerous celebrities and corporations. Her exceptional talent for creating individualized presentations is celebrated around the world. She has an amazing gift for creating any lettering style, whether Script, Uncial, Old English, Round Hand, Gothic, and many others.
Susie-Melissa is an instructor and mentor and is considered a master among her peers. She is actively involved in preserving and teaching the art form which she dearly loves, and has been instrumental in helping countless women launch their own successful careers in calligraphy.
Prompted by an inquiry from the Dallas Morning News about a calligraphy guild in Dallas, Susie-Melissa launched KALIGRAFOS. KALIGRAFOS held its first meeting in 1978, and she subsequently served as the organization's first president. It has become the largest calligrapher's guild in Dallas providing support and instruction to hand lettering enthusiasts.
Prior to launching Calligraphic Arts and Gift Wrap Studio, Susie-Melissa was the owner of SMInk in Preston Center. SMInk has hosted many of the world's most well-known calligraphers for instructional seminars.
She currently teaches calligraphy at the Southern Methodist University Informal Education School. Other teaching venues have included the University of Texas - Dallas, and other locations in the Dallas/Forth Worth metroplex. In addition, she offers classes and seminars in calligraphy and gift wrap on location at Calligraphic Arts Design Studio and Gift Wrap Studio.
Susie-Melissa has provided hand lettering and gift wrap services to Highland Park and the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex customers for over thirty years.
